After many deadly trials, Nygma finds a new nemesis in Lucius Fox.  Gordon avoids that particular limelight by being caught up in his uncle’s scheme to recruit him to the Court of Owls.  Bruce shows he can kick some serious street buttocks but doesn’t realize he’s been duped by the Court.  Bruce’s doppleganger comes home to a nice shepard’s pie kept warm by Alfred.  Also, Penguin is still kicking, due to Poison Ivy.

SPOILERS/W - DC on SCREEN #306 Gotham 3x14 - Mad City: The Gentle Art of Making Enemies | Recap & Review
Jerome’s followers paint the town red as the city plunges into complete chaos, but Jerome has some unfinished business to attend to.  He storms Wayne mansion and kidnaps Bruce, who buys himself some time at least by appealing to Jerome’s sense of showmanship.  Jim catches on in time to save Alfred and the two take off after Bruce, whom they discover is at a carnival that’s now a Jerome stronghold.  Jim, Alfred and the cops arrive just in time to almost save Bruce, who just saves himself anyway.  Jerome follows Bruce into a house of mirrors where Bruce proceeds to beat his face nearly off his body.  Moments later, Gordon finishes the job.  Meanwhile the Penguin shows up hoping to save Edward but finds that he has been duped by the gang.  After mucking about with some death traps and trying to get Penguin to betray Ed for his own life, Ed reluctantly admits that Oswald does apparently love him, one way or another, but shoots him anyway.  Finally, Alfred and Bruce have a talk about what all this training is leading to and what rules he’ll need to abide by.

Jim & Bullock are after Dwight as he tries to resurrect Jerome.  His initial attempts fail, so he cuts off Jerome’s face and starts a “We’re All Jerome” movement.  He then interrupts the nightly news to announce the revelation about everyone being Jerome.  Little does he know, the real Jerome has risen and is getting a quick history lesson from Lee.  He learns where he can reacquire his face and sets off to the news studio to find Dwight.  By the time Jerome arrives, Dwight is being taken into custody, having been thwarted mid-speech by Jim and Bullock.  Jerome cop-naps him and takes him to a power plant, straps him down and surrounds him with explosives.  He then delivers his own message to Gotham, pretty much declaring a purge, before blowing up the plant and sinking Gotham into darkness.  Meanwhile, Selena is horrified to discover that her mother has been grifting Bruce and using her to do it.  She tells her mom to get out of the city and never come back, then yells at Bruce for not telling her he’d figured it out already.  Also, Riddler’s machinations to destroy Penguin continue as Barbara convinces the underworld that Penguin is out to kill them all. Then she and Tabatha kill them all.  Nygma fakes a hostage phone call to Penguin, pretending to let him know how to find him.

Mario Falcone breaks into the facility working on a cure for the Tetch virus, crushes a lab tech’s head, and steals enough info to fake his blood test and make him look uninfected. Later, he beats the crap out of Gordon, but leaves him alive. Following a handy clue, Jim sets out to Arkham where he throws down some rhymes with Jervis and discovers Mario is going to kill Lee.  Jim has Mario tested for the virus but the tests come back negative. Desperate to save Lee, Jim rushes to confront her on her wedding day. He quickly realizes that Mario’s plan was to make him look like a jealous ex. Not appreciating the last-minute confessional, Lee throws him out and Falcone’s men put a beat down him. The wedding proceeds as planned and the newlyweds head out of town.  Gordon, undeterred, demands Carmine Falcone tell him where they are, promising to do no harm to Mario.  Carmine accepts the terms, but when Jim shows up Mario’s jealousy has gotten the best of him and Jim is forced to put him down. Meanwhile, Bruce and Alfred want to proceed with the plan to loot the Court of Owls’ vault.  When the Whisper Gang seemingly stands them up Selina reluctantly decides to help but doesn’t like the setup because she feels like someone is watching them. The heist proceeds anyway and they manage to steal a giant crystal owl before the Court’s assassin shows up to do some killing.  Everyone pitches in but they are nearly overwhelmed before Selina’s mom steps in.  Barbara is busy starting a war as she discloses Penguin’s true feelings and motives to Ed.  He investigates briefly and discovers that, yes, Oswald killed Isabella. In retaliation, Nygma vows to help Barbara take Penguin’s place in the underworld if she first helps him destroy Penguin completely.

SPOILERS/NSFW - DC on SCREEN #266 - Gotham 3x10 – Mad City: Time Bomb | Recap & Review - Nygma sets up a torture room for Butch and Tabitha to avenge his fallen Isabella, but discovers during his climax that Butch really is innocent.  He’s also a sweet guy, which costs Tabitha a hand.  Barbara, who’s been doing some research herself, retrieves Butch, Tabatha, and the lost hand and gets them to a hospital.  Once Tabatha is safe she realizes that Penguin had Isabella killed in a jealous rage and enlists Butch to help her start a war.  Someone keeps trying to kill Mario Falcone right before his wedding to Lee, and it appears to be the Court of Owls.  Bruce and the gang investigate the key Ivy hauled in while Ivy gets kidnapped again.  They meet the kidnappers, The Whisper Gang, who tell them everything about everything, ever.  They’ve been working against the Court and Bruce promises to help.  That relationship is short, however, as the leader of the Whisper Gang is soon executed by a Talon.  Carmine Falcone seems to have an understanding with the Court that Mario needs to stay alive, and Mario flies into a jealous, Alice-infected rage when he sees Lee leaving Jim’s apartment.

SPOILERS/NSFW - DC on SCREEN # 258 - Gotham 3x09 – Mad City: The Executioner | Recap and Review - Gordon convinces a very skeptical Bullock to look into whether Barnes could be responsible for Symon’s murder, while Barnes decides that Gordon is either going to be recruited or executed.  He takes Gordon for a ride, has his recruitment speech shut down, then tries to kill or frame Gordon.  At the last minute Bullock and the GCPD show up to save Gordon from the end of the line.  Barnes earns a strait jacket for his efforts.  Penguin’s sloppy hit on Isabella has consequences as Nygma quickly uncovers foul play, but Pengers can relax because Ed thinks Butch is the culprit.  Ivy gets in too deep when she drugs a smarmy rich guy, steals his emerald, gets caught, then shows up at an incredulous Selena’s hideaway.  Turns out she stole some kind of key and some Talon-looking hitmen are very interested in where the key, Ivy, Selena now, and, obviously, Bruce are holed up.

SPOILERS/NSFW - DC on SCREEN #249 - Gotham 3x08 – Mad City: Blood Rush | Recap and Review
Jim Gordon is back at the GCPD, just in time for Captain Barnes, still suffering the side effects of Alice’s toxic blood, to start tear-assing his way through Gotham’s criminal underworld, ripping heads off.  He kills a mob clean-up guy, tracks down the guy who hired him, and tortures him into revealing the name of the guy behind the grisly murder: Dr. Symon, a plastic surgeon who kills people, takes their faces, and gives them to criminals looking to start over. Barnes catches him red-handed, so to speak, but he’s connected, so of course it doesn’t stick.. In fact, Symon is a guest at Lee and Mario’s engagement party!  An affair that neither Jim or Bullock are invited to, but must crash regardless.  Turns out there’s still evidence linking Symon to the crimes even though Lucius says that the beheading was done by someone else—and with their bare hands!  Barnes confronts Dr. Symon is the restroom at the party, and winds up throwing him through a wall.  Symon drops a few stories and lands on a car. With his last breaths he tells Gordon that Barnes did it.
Elsewhere, Ed and Isabella seem to be doing well in their relationship until she puts on her glasses and reminds Ed of Ms. Kringle.  He sends Oswald to break up with her for him as he believes he will accidentally kill her as he did Ms. Kringle.  Oswald lets her down with measured-yet-jubilant hatred, but Kringle refuses to accept it.  She dresses like Kringle to prove that Ed won’t kill her. It works! So Penguin puts a hit on her.

Gotham 3x02 - Mad City: Burn the Witch | Recap & Review

Download Gotham 3x02 - Mad City: Burn the Witch | Recap & Review
SPOILERS/NSFW - DC on SCREEN #211 - Gotham 3x02 - Mad City: Burn the Witch | Recap & Review Gordon and Vale track down Fish Mooney… who has in turn kidnapped Bullock and forced him to tell her the location of Professor Hugo Strange in hopes that he can save her from death… And raise her an army of monsters... Penguin is causing a hub-bub, getting angry mobs together to do what he claims the police can’t – kill Fish and the Indian Hill monsters. At the end of the day, the police, penguin, and penguin’s mob show up where the government and police are holding Strange to get Fish once and for all. Jim sneaks in, makes a deal with Fish to save Bullock, and delivers her into the hands of Penguin. Fish talks her way out of death by Oswald, though. Somewhere in there, we have the new Ivy who murders a nice guy who didn’t water some plants. Also happening this episode, Bruce has a meeting with a ghoulish representative of the Court of Owls named… Catherine? Oh… okay. But she’s still scary enough to make Bruce agree to stop investigating them, Indian Hill, his parents’ murders… pretty much he has to promise to butt out and be a freaking kid. Except when he gets back home, doppleganger shows up. In the end, Jim and Valerie finally break all of the two-episode sexual tension and get down while Lee Thompkins gets off a train in the 1940s… or present day Gotham. I think that’s what we were supposed to see.
