SPOILERS/NSFW - DC on SCREEN #326 - Legends of Tomorrow - Camelot/3000 | Recap & Review Rip makes a quick run to the future to confront and murder Dr Midnite, giving him the 2nd of 4 pieces of the Spear of Destiny. The Legends, who arrive too late to intervene, find the aftermath and a neat piece of mind control tech. Their next stop is Camelot, which it turns out is real. Stargirl has carefully influenced this time period so that it becomes the Camelot of Legend, where she is hiding herself as Merlin and the 3rd spear piece as the sword in the stone. The Legends arrive and quickly befriend the Round Table in general but Rip and Damien show up with a mind-controlled King Arthur and threaten to kill the king if the spear piece isn’t delivered to them. After much debate, Stargirl does eventually hand the piece over to Vixen, seemingly avoiding the need for the Legends to participate in a doomed defense of Camelot. But Ray is just too inspired to help himself and refuses to leave the kingdom behind. Eventually, the rest of the team decides they have to help Ray and Camelot as well. After Jax discovers the way to use the mind control tech they found earlier, Rory focuses his years of personal torment into the device, which destroys the tech keeping Rip’s army subservient to him. Arthur seemingly slays Rip on the battlefield and Damien leaves him for dead. Sara, however, saves him, which may be a bad idea because Gideon still responds to Captain Rip, even if he’s evil.

SPOILERS/NSFW - DC on SCREEN #325 - The Flash 3x13 - Attack on Gorilla City | Recap & Review Harry has been captured by Grodd on Earth 2 so Barry, Cisco, Caitlin and Julian set off to rescue him.  Barry demands Jesse Quick stay behind to help Wally protect Earth 1.  There’s initially some tension there between her and Wally, but in the end they work it out and Jesse realizes, with HR’s help, that she’s prepared to stay on Earth 1 with Wally.  On Earth 2, the gang immediately gets kidnapped, and it appears Grodd needed Barry to defeat Solovar for him in a gladiator-style battle.  Barry does, but refuses to kill Solovar, because humans are peaceful.  Grodd, who had promised the gang refuge, betrays them and promises instead to kill them to make a point.  With few options left, Caitlin freezes Barry just enough to make him appear dead so that Grodd will lose track of his dampening and pull him out of the cage.  Barry promptly warms up and saves everyone, including Harry.  They make a run for it, and vibe back to Earth 1.  But lo, the forward-thinking Grodd had a back-up plan, as it appears Gypsy is under his thumb and ready to open the doorway for a Gorilla invasion of Central City, fulfilling yet another prophecy.

SPOILERS/NSFW - DC on SCREEN #324 - Supergirl 2x13 - Mr. & Mrs. Mxyzptlk | Recap & Review Mr Mxyzptlk is out to get him a Supergirl.  He comes bearing promises of showing her the world, but she’s not into it.  Mon El, who has seen 5th dimensional beings before, is feeling a little more hostile about this intrusion.  Supergirl swears that she can take care of the little imp, but Mon El steals some 5th dimensional tech to challenge Mxy on his own.  He fails, and Kara swears that she and Mon El are fundamentally wrong for each other.  She also agrees to marry Mxy, but only if it’s done at the Fortress of Solitude.  When Mxy arrives she explains that she will never marry him, and has set off a bomb that will destroy them both.  He pleads that the world needs Supergirl, and she reluctantly agrees to let him disarm the bomb, which is a ploy to get him to spell his name backwards which banishes him back to the 5th dimension.  Elsewhere, Winn has found a feisty woman from Starhaven to take a chance with, and Maggie overcomes her Valentine’s trauma to make a special moment for Alex.  Finally, a humble Mon El admits he was wrong,  and Kara admits she was lying about whether they could be together.  Then they appear to get very together.

Arrow 5x13 - Spectre of the Gun | Recap & Review

Download Arrow 5x13 - Spectre of the Gun | Recap & Review

SPOILERS/NSFW - DC on SCREEN #321 -  Arrow 5x13 - Spectre of the Gun | Recap & Review This week we take a look at Rene to see what created the Wild Dog we’ve come to know. There’s also a lot of talk about gun laws. But here’s what actually happened. In the present, Oliver is faced with a gun rights dilemma as a madman infiltrates city hall, killing several people and injuring many others. It comes to bear that his rage is over a gun registry bill that didn’t get passed, and the fact that his family was needlessly gunned down shortly after the bill died. In the wake of the city hall incident, Mayor Queen has to spend his time tracking down this domestic terrorist while also talking with opposition City Council members about how to draft a bill that will satisfy both sides of this debate. Team Arrow does track down the terrorist, but it’s Mayor Queen who talks him down and submits him to custody. With the help of Rene, who has been appointed Assistant Deputy Mayor to Lance, Oliver works up a bill that apparently protects everyone’s rights & opinions. In the flashbacks we learn that Rene once had a wife and a young daughter, but the wife was a recovering addict who got in a little deep. After returning with his daughter from a hockey game, Rene finds his wife held at gunpoint over a few hundred dollars of IOU drug money. Rene tries to get to the box with his gun in it, and does, but the dying drug dealer kills his wife with an incidental blow. Having been dishonorably discharged, Rene isn’t allowed a firearm and in the aftermath of the event his child is taken from him. He pleads with Child Protective Services, but to no avail. In the present, having learned of the situation, Curtis swears to help him get his daughter back. Meanwhile, Felicity is still using her illegally acquired database and Diggle talks Dinah into getting a real apartment and putting some roots down.

Supergirl 2x12 - Luthors | Recap & Review

Download Supergirl 2x12 - Luthors | Recap & Review

SPOILERS/NSFW - DC on SCREEN #320 - Supergirl 2x12 - Luthors | Recap & Review This week was a glimpse into the past of Lena Luthor.  First off, it turns out she was an illegitimate spawn of Lionel’s who was brought into the family without the full support of Lillian.  Secondly, she’s apparently embarrassingly better at chess than the vaunted Lex Luthor, who it turns out was friends with Superman for years before the two became arch nemeses.  But this story is about the escape of Metallo and the teamwork between him, Cyborg Superman, and Lillian that ensues.  When Metallo escapes, Lena is left to blame and is summarily arrested.  Kara, however, is certain her friend wouldn’t do this.  It does eventually turn out that the damning footage of Lena was faked by Cyborg Super-Hank, which exonerates Lena.  Ultimately, a battle ensues between Supergirl and the CADMUS trio but the results are deadly for Metallo, whose use of synthetic Kryptonite are inevitably self-destructive.  Cyber-Hank and Lillian scuttle away and the Manhunter shows up in time to give Supergirl enough time to save Lena, but Metallo is supposedly a goner.  All the while, James and Kara have been talking and the relationship between Guardian and Supergirl may have a future, because they’ve talked about mutual trust now and game night is back on.  Also, Alex comes out to the gang, who are all happy for her but with varying degrees of not surprised.  And Kara finally faces her feelings for Mon el.  The two even kiss, almost, until a 5th dimensional imp shows up and steals the scene, declaring his love for Kara.

Arrow 5x12 - Bratva | Recap & Review

Download Arrow 5x12 - Bratva | Recap & Review

SPOILERS/NSFW - DC on SCREEN #317  - Arrow 5x12 - Bratva | Recap & Review Team Arrow heads to Russia to find General Walker and a big ol nuclear bomb. Oliver hopes Anitoli will help him find Walker, but Anitoli is pretty pissed about a previous commitment that Oliver dropped. A raid provides them a hostage, but Diggle gets impatient and knocks him right the hell out. Felicity takes matters into her own hands, and blackmails someone using the giant Pandora cache of info she was gifted. Rory is suspicious, and is worried about Felicity’s new direction in life. None of this works though, so Oliver is forced to barter with Anitoli and do some enforcing on behalf of the Bratva in exchange for Walker’s location. The trade off works, and they do capture Walker, but it appears Oliver may be more in debt to his old friend than he had hoped. Despite Felicity’s best hacking, the big ol nuclear bomb goes off, and Rory wraps it in his rags to contain the blast. His desperate tactic works, but at the expense of the magic contained in the rags, so he tells Felicity in private that he’s leaving and will return when he can be more use to the team. Back in Star City, Rene is left to help Quentin prepare for his interview with Susan. And also to make sure his ass stays sober. After some blustering, Quentin accepts Rene’s help. The interview goes more smoothly than it should because, it turns out, a young Lance once told a young Rene that he wasn’t living up to his potential. Susan meets a contact who gives her a photo of the old school Green Arrow that was taken in Russia. She can only conclude that the Bratva Captain Oliver Queen that she knows and the Green Arrow from the picture are one in the same.  In the flashbacks, Talia’s training of Oliver continues as they knock off a name from Oliver’s father’s list, and Talia pushes Oliver to continue his journey and take the fight back home.

The Legends arrive at a Christmas party, and get ambushed by Evil Rip and his EMP grenade. The result is a kidnapped Mick and Georgie, a Ray that’s stuck in his tiny dead suit, and a Sara left for dead with a shot in the gut. They get Sara back to the ship, but Stein can only do so much to keep her going. As the ship is assaulted by Evil Rip’s forces, Jax is forced to do his best to defend the ship with sticks and stones. Evil Rip and his army rip down the door, chases down Sara and Jax, and Jax is forced to hand over a piece of the Spear of Destiny in a futile attempt to save Sara’s life. Luckily, Ray outruns a rat, and gets power restored in time to get Gideon online and save Sara’s life. Later, Jax seeks revenge on Evil Rip, but just can’t pull the trigger after a healthy-ish Sara talks him down. Elsewhere, Nate and Vixen’s search for Mick and Washington take a turn for the unexpected, and they make with the nasty. But they’re just chilling, so it doesn’t mean anything, much to Nate’s chagrin. All the while, the fate of George friggin Washington seems to be in the hands of Mick Rory, who is amused by George’s insistence that the British will treat their captives with the honor they deserve. After George is sentenced to death he decides to listen to Mick and they make their daring escape, aided by Nate and Vixen, who have finished adult hugging. After saying goodbye to George, who proclaims Mick a national treasure, they all make their way back to the ship for some Christmas dinner, presents and Captain Sara pep talks about recovering the Spear.

SPOILERS/NSFW - DC on SCREEN #315 - The Flash 3x12 - Untouchable | Recap & Review Barry is trying to train Wally for his encounter with Savitar, but Flashpoint villain Clive Yorkin shows up and starts disintegrating some familiar faces.  His quest for revenge involves killing Joe, but having failed at killing him directly, he realizes killing Iris would be at least as good.  Wally shows up to save her, but can’t get it done.  Iris gets the touch of death,  and is fading fast.  Caitlin is forced to go Killer Frost to freeze Iris’ arm to stem the damage. She almost loses her battle with Frost though until Julian talks her off the ledge.  Yorkin, still at large, goes after Joe directly, forcing Barry to expand his skillset and phase an entire train full of people through a roadblock.  Wally, who has been having trouble learning to phase, gets the inspiration he needs to use his speedster blood to reverse Yorkin’s powers as he phases through him.  Meanwhile, the families of Joe and Cecile have successfully met, and that went over okay, especially for Wally, who has found a super fan in Cecile’s Daughter.  Also, the tension between Caitlin and Julian has developed into fondness as Caitlin finally invites Julian to grab a drink, and Iris is feeling slightly better about the Flash being able to save her at the end of the day.  Finally though, we get a breach over from Jesse Quick, who informs Wally that Harry has been kidnapped by none other than Gorilla Grodd.

SPOILERS/NSFW - DC on SCREEN #312 Powerless 1x01 - Wayne or Lose | Recap & Review

Emily is late for her new job at Wayne Security when a battle between Crimson Fox and jack O Lantern derails her train.  She seems to be the only person interested as people in Charm City see this kind of thing every day.  Emily once had a monotonous job at an insurance company in a fly-over state (a state where superheroes fly over but never stop).  Now she's off to make a difference in an office with a bunch of quirky inventors who are quirky and make products like the Joker anti-venom epipen. Except, none of their ideas are very good, and neither are the bosses Bruce Wayne's cousin Van has hired to corral and inspire these people. Emily is the latest in a long line.  Oh, and Van? Hoping to leave the taint that is Charm City.  He gets his chance when his batty cousin gives him a call and tells him Wayne Security is closing down. Van is excited to learn he'll get his chance to be absorbed into the Gotham office until Emily does her job and introduces a supervillain detection device that Bruce loves.  Bruce keeps everyone aboard, Van is stuck in Charm City, and Emily has won the respect of her colleagues.

SPOILERS/NSFW - DC on SCREEN #310 Legends of Tomorrow 2x10 - The Legion of Doom | Recap & Review This episode we get to see things from the Legion of Doom’s perspective, and the in-fighting is rampant.  Darhk and Merlyn can’t get any secrets out of Film School Rip because there are none to be had.  His brain has literally been reprogrammed.  This failure annoys Eobard, who admonishes them as he would henchmen.  Fed up with the sidekick treatment, Merlyn and Darhk trap Eobard in a vault and demand to be treated as equals.  It works, because it turns out the watch Eobard has been looking at is telling him how long he has before the Black Racer shows up to snag his soul.  After Eobard agrees to their demands, they use a similar trick to trap the Black Racer and make an escape.  Having bought some time, the trio head back with the prize of Rip’s safety deposit box, which is a memory disk.  They use it to reprogram Rip again, this time making him an assassin.  Meanwhile, Stein and Ray need help sciencing something and Stein calls in the foremost expert he can think of.  His daughter, Lily.  She’s a big fan of the Waverider, even if Sara is a little peeved she’s been brought there, but she does in fact help Ray plug Gideon up to a thousands-year-old amulet, which will hopefully help them find the rest of the spear of destiny before the Legion of Doom.  Unfortunately, Mick lets slip that she’s an aberration and Stein has to face the music on his feelings about having a daughter and Lily’s past.

SPOILERS/NSFW - DC on SCREEN #308 - Supergirl 2x10 - We Can Be Heroes | Recap & Review Mon-El seems to be mostly battle ready, and Winn needs some sleep. Kara & Mon-El set out to track a recently sprung Livewire.  Mon-El screws up guarding some civilians, & Guardian has to put his neck out to save a bystander.  He gets knocked out, and Kara learns that Guardian is James Olsen.  This goes over poorly, and Kara swears she’ll stop him from risking his life.  He tells her “Good luck with that”.  It turns out that Livewire was abducted and not rescued though, and when Winn tracks her location, he lies to Hank and Supergirl and feeds the location to James to prove their worth.  Mon-El overhears the location & their plan, so he shows up to help.  Unfortunately, the scientist gets the drop on Guardian and Mon-El, and they get themselves captured, forcing Winn to come clean to Supergirl.  She shows up, releases everyone, and forms a temporary alliance with Livewire to stop the scientist. Supergirl even agrees to let Livewire have a running start before tracking her down again, just in case she’s decided not to be a villain anymore.  Even after fighting side by side though, in the aftermath, Kara just can’t agree to support James and Winn’s vigilantism and the 3 of them agree to work separately.  Meanwhile, Hank has to save M’gann’s life after she appears to collapse in her cell.  After much reluctance, he mind melds with her and talks her out of her guilt, which stops her mind from shutting itself down.  The two reemerge as friends and she warns Hank that it was a psychic attack that shut her down, and the White Martians are coming.  Also, Mon-El tells Kara how he feels and gets shut down hard.

SPOILERS/NSFW - DC on SCREEN #307 - Lucifer 2x13 - A Good Day to Die | Recap & Review Lucifer and Dan try to find an anecdote for Chloe the old-fashioned way.  When detective work hits a dead end though, Lucifer has Linda and Maze kill him for a minute or two so he can pop off to hell in search of the soul of the doctor who poisoned Chloe.  He finds the doctor pretty quickly but gets himself stuck in a guilt loop when he finds Ariel.  Realizing he’s stuck, Charlotte goes into hell after him.  She manages to talk Lucifer through his guilt and free him but almost gets herself stuck because she can’t bear to leave Uriel behind.  Lucifer has to physically drag her out.  Meanwhile, Ella and Dan have been gathering ingredients and Amenadiel has been standing guard over Chloe’s body, so when Lucifer gets back with the formula they are able to save Chloe.  Lucifer then ghosts Chloe completely and moves without leaving any notice.

SPOILERS/W - DC on SCREEN #306 Gotham 3x14 - Mad City: The Gentle Art of Making Enemies | Recap & Review
Jerome’s followers paint the town red as the city plunges into complete chaos, but Jerome has some unfinished business to attend to.  He storms Wayne mansion and kidnaps Bruce, who buys himself some time at least by appealing to Jerome’s sense of showmanship.  Jim catches on in time to save Alfred and the two take off after Bruce, whom they discover is at a carnival that’s now a Jerome stronghold.  Jim, Alfred and the cops arrive just in time to almost save Bruce, who just saves himself anyway.  Jerome follows Bruce into a house of mirrors where Bruce proceeds to beat his face nearly off his body.  Moments later, Gordon finishes the job.  Meanwhile the Penguin shows up hoping to save Edward but finds that he has been duped by the gang.  After mucking about with some death traps and trying to get Penguin to betray Ed for his own life, Ed reluctantly admits that Oswald does apparently love him, one way or another, but shoots him anyway.  Finally, Alfred and Bruce have a talk about what all this training is leading to and what rules he’ll need to abide by.
